FSA - K-Force Compact, 44cm 31.8, Round Carbon Road Bar Reviews
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Batting .500, April 22, 2010 This review is from: FSA - K-Force Compact, 44cm 31.8, Round Carbon Road Bar (Misc.) I bought these bars primarily (a) to reduce vibration, (b) because they're light, (c) they have a shallower drop (125mm) and (d) they look great. They're strong and do reduce vibration. The drops really do feel like you're dropping into them, it's a good feeling. But...there are two design issues that essentially make them less than ideal.
1. The reinforced section on the front curve is too small and low. This prevents being able to mount the shifters high enough to hold the hoods comfortably. Just rotate the bars back you say? Read on.
2. The tops are actually mostly flat. When the drops are parallel to the ground the tops angle upward about 5-10 degrees. This will force you to drop the heel of your hand and bend uncomfortably at the wrists. Want to rotate the bars further to get the shifters up higher? This will drop your wrist even lower making it nearly impossible to ride the tops.
Had FSA not made the angle of the tops so steep and made them a... Read more
FSA K-Force Carbon Compact Handlebar, June 1, 2010 By This review is from: FSA - K-Force Compact, 44cm 31.8, Round Carbon Road Bar (Misc.) I replaced the ergo bar on my Cannondale CAAD9 with this bar. Now I find myself spending more time in the drops than before. The carbon takes a lot of the buzz out of the road feel, so there's no hand numbness. I have the brake hoods mounted high on the roughed-up section of the bends, but unlike another reviewer I don't find the position wrong. It's exactly right and very comfortable when riding the hoods. I got the 42 mm size, which is 40 mm at the hoods. Mine weighed in at 217 g. It takes my Syntace C2 clip-on aero bar without a hassle. A definite improvement over my stock aluminum bar.
